Hello everyone,
My name is Mike Mehrle and I have been an engineering support technician of many manufacturing industries for over 30 years. I have been in the assembly business for about ten years now.
I have worked for a few national assembly companies as a technician, operated my own assembly business and have worked in upper management for two of the three national assembly companies I worked for.
My current goal is to help an uncertain industry by educating the technicians so they can make a decision of whether to work for themselves as a business owner or as a technician for one of the national companies.
Lets keep this Blog entry free of any dialog other than introducing yourself and stating a goal.
But let me interject one thing here...
Every time you enter a comment, you have the opportunity to sign your comment with your Web address, helping you get more page ranking with the search engines. But remember, this Blog is moderated, so do not abuse it or you might be removed.
Lets keep it professional.

Hey everyone! This is Todd Jefferies of Assembly Masters located in Los Angeles County, CA (Covering Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura County areas)... We currently provide On-site assembly of RTA furniture, fitness equipment & sporting goods. We are just starting our 5th successful year and I am looking for a few good Assembly Technicians to help support our growth and make good money doing it!
That's right everyone! It's time to get serious about this great opportunity in an industry that is starving for QUALITY local companies, DEPENDABLE people and a superior service level worthy of a premium price! STOP SELLING YOURSELF CHEAP! One of the many things I have learned over the years in this business is that people are not always looking for the cheapest price... they are looking for a person or company they LIKE & TRUST! Numerous customers have told us that we were not the cheapest price, however we are the best deal... and are happy to pay more to get more!! We'll take that all day long!
On-site Assembly Companies that are willing to go the extra mile and clearly COMMUNICATE project details with their potential customers, provide proper explanations and justifications of why you do business the way you do, how your prices are created and what kind of services you “specialize” in, will come out on top!
“They say if you are a jack of all trades, you are a master at none.” - Artis Hicks
We are Assembly Masters!
Believe it or not... people (customers) want to be told what to do and want to be sold on your services!! This is why they are calling YOU! If you don’t have the phone sales and people skills it takes to book the business on the phone, then you should focus on improving your communication skills in this area.
If you don't have the desire for these skills, then you should consider contracting with a company to work with that DOES! There are many aspects of this business to consider, however I feel this is one of the biggest issues "the small guy" seams to have on a regular basis ... If you do not know how to "close the sale" without working dirt-cheap just to pay your rent, then nothing else really matters because you will not have enough jobs to make you REAL money and a good living!!
As a part of my involvement in the UAN Network of Professionals, I am looking forward to providing my 20+ years of corporate sales, marketing, management and years of telemarketing experience to help grow our business and make this network... WORK!
Be part of something bigger then you! Some of you won't, some of you will..... so what! NEXT! (Nothing personal)
If you continue to do what you've always done, you will continue to get what you've always got.... is it enough?
To all my other industry brothers and sisters out there...GET INVOLVED!!!
God bless and great success!!
Todd Jefferies

Good Morning Everyone.
I am sorry I missed the meeting last night but I had a late in-home repair to perform, so I was unable to attend.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Chris Manack and I own and operate a business called Precision Assembly & Repair Technologies (P.A.R.T). I have over 40 years experience in assembling, retro fitting and repairing mechanical type equipment including bicycles, treadmills, fitness equipment, basketball systems, game tables, backyard play sets, indoor and outdoor furniture, and virtually anything thacomes in a box requiring assembly.
My father was a mechanic and electrical technician by trade for over 60 years so I havcome by my assembly and repair skills naturally and honestly. I started a bicycle repair service in my garage many years ago repairing used bikes and rebuilding bicycles I acquired through yard sales and ones that were thrown out. If parts weren't available, I created parts or "retrofitted" parts on bikes to make them roadworthy and safe.
I eventually outgrew my garage and moved the business to a storefront where I became a full service bike dealer, and continued the bike repair service as well as selling new bicycles, accessories, parts, and cycling apparel. It was a natural transition during this time to expand my services into fitness equipment assembly and repaircommercially and in customers' homes. Being opportunistic, I continued to expand my services for assembly and repair into such fields as in ground basketball systems, Ready To Assemble furniture of all varieties, and any/all merchandise requiring assembly.
I sold my bicycle shop a few years ago to pursue the assembly and repair business full time because I observed a huge niche that needed to be filled with my expertise. I also realized that I could make a whole lot more money without the headaches of a storefront business.
Today, I have continued to expand my assembly and repair business in the home as well acommercially, taking care of any/all the customers' service needs in these areas in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. My experience has given birth to the motto: "If icomes in a box, crate or carton, I can assemble or repair it."
I am also contracted by a national assemblcompany to assemble and repair equipment in 2 major sporting goods chains, as well as taking care of their in-home warranty work. While this is profitable work, I much prefer the work I do on my own through my business which has far more potential for service growth and financial earnings.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mike Mehrle for affording me the resources to further the growth of mcompany...truly, the door is wide open for opportunities aplenty, which would not have been possible without the United Assemblers Network. Thanks, Mike, for the partnership you have provided. It's been a great ride and will continue to be one well into the future. The journey continues....

Hello! My name is John Shelton and I operate U S Assemblycompany. I purchased it in 1992. U S Assembly provided bicycle assembly services for Service Merchandise stores in 90 locations in eleven states. We quickly expanded our services to include delivery and assembly services for all of the products Service Merchandise sold in many of the areas we serviced. This was our bread and butter for about 10 years before Service Merchandise went out of business for good in 2002.
Since then,I have contracted directly with The Sports Authority servicing the Memphis, TN area. We were providing delivery and assembly services for four locations until 2008 when a NAC was awarded the Memphis, TN area along with many other Spots Authority locations. I was able to hammer out a deal with that NAC to continue providing services to these stores because of the fabulous relationships I had formed with my local Store Managers and my contacts at the Corporate level. Since then, that NAC has been replaced by yet another NAC and I have somehow weathered the storm again. So far, my experience with the newcompany has been pretty smooth with only a few bumps in the road. But, one thing I have learned in this business over the years is that the only CONSISTENT thing in the assembly business is CHANGE!
My goal is to increase our exposure in the Memphis area and get "more eggs in the basket", so to speak. Providing services with only a couple of major customers is risky business - even if you have the "goose that laid the golden egg" in your basket. I would like to spread this risk and reward out more evenly so that in the event that an egg is removed from the basket . . . my family and icome are not severely impacted.
I am looking to the United Assemblers Network for some help and direction from you guys. You are the experts for Tips on how, who, where, when, and what to do to break into the in home assembly market without a contract with a NAC. I have read yourcomments for some time now and am intrigued by your ability to make it without a contract. Any of you who wish to share with me your secrets to success, please feel free to contact me at:

I have sat in on a few of the Wednesday night sessions but have found the timing to be difficult for me. I wish there were a way to recap the meeting with an email or possibly a way to listen to it at a later date, at a time which would be more convenient if I am unable to attend.
Looking forward to the potential that lies ahead for all ofcompanies . . . and may God bless you beyond belief as he has done for me and my family.
John Shelton
